I love Seattle

5 years ago I traveled across the country to visit my BFF, April, while she was living in Seattle. Ah! Seattle! The motherland to a little Grunge baby like me! I heart the Grunge music.

While I was there I attended a benefit for a drug rehab center, held in honor of Layne Staley, former front man for Alice In Chains, by his own mama. I was so sad when he died, though I can't say I was really surprised. That kind of stuff happens when you do heroin.

Anyhoo, I had such a fantabulous time while I was there! Both April and I were really hoping I would be there when she went into labor with her first daughter. Unfortunately, Matti waited until I left to be born. But that's okay!

I went at the end of August, and the weather could not have been more perfect! It was sunny and 80 degrees everyday. With no humidity! It was so nice to be able to walk around without sweat dripping down my face (and everywhere else), so much nicer than OHIO weather! And, by the way, did you know that Ohio has more rainfall in a year than Washington? Yup.

I drank my very first Starbucks in Seattle. I'm so lame.

The Space Needle is beautiful!

We went on an ice cream cruise (they gave us a Good Humor bar. April was not happy!) and floated past the house from "Sleepless in Seattle."

I skipped the famous fish market. The smell makes me sick. Now I wish I would have stopped anyway.

This is a sculpture on Mercer Island, where April lived.

April and me.

Why, do you ask, am I going on about a vacation I took almost 6 years ago? For one, I loved it! I so want to go back! And number two, Carebear, of Two Under Two. Whew! is having a giveaway all about Seattle (lucky duck lives there)! She's picking out some of her favorite Seattle made products, and giving them away! Cool, cool, cool. If you'd like to check out the giveaway, and her blog in general, just click the link. Even if you don't want to enter go check her blog out anyway. She has some cutie pie kids, and they're pretty silly!

6 talk to me!:

Oh my gosh, I came over here to tell you how much I enjoyed reading about your trip in my comments, and here I find an entire post about it! Awesome! Those pictures are so great - especially that space needle shot - wow! I really love Seattle too, and August or September are the best months to visit - so well done you! You'll have to let me know if you ever make it back (is April still here?) you'll have to let me know - and try to schedule it so you can come when a Seattle band is on tour - I live 15 minutes from one of our major concert venues!!!

Is it just the photo, or are you rocking some RED hair?

Looks like you had a blast.

Kids makes it hard to get to the grocery store, let alone go across the country. Sigh. But someday you'll be hiking your kids through cities and taking their pictures while they look unhappy because they think you are "dorking." LOL

Yes Jen, my hair was that red! It was called Red Hot and I miss it! I think it was a Loreal color I got at Sally's. Should I do it again? Or is it inappropriate now that I'm a mom?

Carebear, April no longer lives in Seattle. She lives in Michigan now, so that's good 'cause she's so much closer and I get to see her more.

Oooo I love Seattle. One of my favorite friends lives there, and it's so nice... and so fun to walk. And I love the hills. And there are some great wineries right there (ok you probably didn't get to them with a pregnant friend!). And Chukkar Cherries -- my absolute favorite! YUM!
